Garfield boys cross country moves to 5-0 with dominant win over West Seattle

The Garfield boys cross country team traveled to Lincoln Park on Friday to face West Seattle, and came out victorious for the fifth week in a row.
This was a West Seattle team with runners that had proven they were tough competition in previous seasons, so they couldn’t be taken lightly. The Garfield boys went out at a hard, controlled pace and took command of the race early on. The West Seattle runners couldn’t hang on for long and slowly fell back. Coming into the final 600 meters, Senior Nathan Lee was pushing the pace at the front of the race. Freshman Kamil Zeribi ended up taking the lead in the final stretch, and secured his second consecutive first place finish. Garfield runners occupied 7 of the top 10 positions in the Varsity race in what turned out to be a dominant win. The Garfield boys narrowly beat West Seattle in the JV race as well, adding to an already successful day.
The runners now look ahead to the 3A State meet, which is being run at the Garfield track on Wednesday, April 7th. Due to the Covid-19, each school is running the race individually on a track, and submitting their times.
