On Thursday, May 14, the Garfield boys soccer team faced West Seattle at Walt Hundley field. The Bulldogs were coming off of their huge 6-0 win against Cleveland last week. West Seattle going into the game was 2-0-0, beating Eastside Catholic and Franklin. This was the Bulldog's biggest testament of the season so far.
In the first half of the game, the Bulldogs jumped off to a 1-0 start with a goal from junior Nahom Welday, assisted by Dylan Paine. The Bulldogs at the beginning of the second half scored a second goal from junior Ioan Street assisted by Asaf Iron-Jobes to increase their lead to 2-0. West Seattle responded by scoring two goals to tie the game. The final score of Thursday's game was 2-2 and the Bulldogs improved to 1-0-2.
Disappointed by the tie, the Bulldogs hope to continue their undefeated season when they take on 3-0 O'Dea next week on May 20th, at 6:45pm at Memorial Stadium. Despite the tie, Garfield is still undefeated and near the top of the Metro standings. Go Bulldogs!
