Garfield vs Timberline Recap
Aaron Orbeck
The Bulldogs handily defeated the Timberline Blazers 90-58 to secure a first-round bye in the state tournament.
Garfield was expected to win but strong performances from players like Sherrell McCullum and Koren Johnson were key to pulling away from the Blazers. Sherrell McCullum, expected to dominate this tournament, lead the team in points and rebounds with 19 and 11 respectively. Koren Johnson was close behind with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Jaylin Stewart also had another consistent game with 15 points after making 7 of 8 field goals. This trio is going to be very important in the coming games if Garfield wants to take home the state title.
The Bulldogs await to play their first game on March 3rd at the Tacoma Dome against the victor of the Kennewick versus Auburn matchup. Auburn is the likely winner and a game between them and Garfield would be a rematch of the finals of the Hardwood Invitational which the Bulldogs won.
