Garfield vs Roosevelt Recap
Aaron Orbeck

The Garfield basketball team defeated Roosevelt 89 to 58 bringing their record to 4-0. This strong start to the season bodes well for their chances to win the state championship this year.

Strong offense was key to the Bulldogs’ 31-point margin victory. Koren Johnson, once again, made a significant contribution with his shooting, scoring a team leading 17 points after knocking down 4 of 6 three-pointers. He also made an impact as a facilitator with seven assists. For a team looking to win a state title, performances like this from Koren Johnson are going to be crucial. Other players like Sherrell McCullum Jr, Raphiel Justice and Jaylin Stewart also played well scoring 13, 13 and 11 points respectively.

The Bulldogs will have the opportunity to go to five wins in a row in a home game against Ingraham. Ingraham has lost their first four games, so Garfield is heavily favored to win in a blowout.
