Garfield vs Roosevelt Recap
Jack Sundberg
Last Friday night, Garfield faced off against Roosevelt on their home court. Garfield won 87-30. Four games, four wins. It’s all light work for Garfield’s Lady Bulldogs, who have cruised to a 4-0 start to the season against some of the better Metro League teams like Roosevelt and Seattle Prep.
Garfield played hard the whole way through and never took their foot off the gas. “That’s something that we are really proud of. Just getting up and down the court [and keeping things] fast paced,” Junior point guard Malia Samuels said after the game, who scored 10 points and had 2 rebounds and 6 assists.
It was a flawless game, where both the offense and defense seemed to be at their best. Garfield scored above their point average this year and had a field goal percentage of over 50%, their best of the season. Also, Garfield was 9 for 20 from the 3pt line.
Looking forward, Garfield has matchups on Wednesday and Friday against Ingraham and Ballard at home. They look to keep their momentum going.
