Garfield Boys Cross Country Completes Undefeated Regular Season With Easy Win Against Rainier Beach
Hayden Murphy
The boys cross country team had their last meet before the Metro Championships on Thursday, and came away with an easy win.
Rainier beach only had three boys runners, so it technically wasn’t possible for them to win. Even without much competition, the Garfield team still had a great day, with lots of boys getting their personal best times. Senior and first year runner Oscar Kubiniec got 1st place in the boys race with a very impressive effort. The team celebrated it’s seniors for senior night, and wrapped up what has been a very unique and successful season.
The boys team finished 6-0 in the regular season, and proved to be significantly better than any of the other South division teams. The top nine boys runners will now prepare for the Metro league championships at Magnuson Park on April 14th, where they’ll face much harder competition from the north division.
