Garfield vs Rainier Beach Recap

On Friday June 4th, the Garfield boys soccer team took on Rainier Beach in their final regular season game. The Bulldogs had a record of 2-1-3 going into the game compared to Rainier Beach’s 1-5-0 record.
As the game started, the Bulldogs held the majority of the position with the ball but failed to score in the first half. At half, the score was 0-0. Going into the second half, the Bulldogs were eager to score as they held the majority of the position in Rainier Beach’s half of the field. The Bulldogs had multiple opportunities to score and shots on goal but none of them converted. During one of the Bulldogs free kicks that was cleared away, Rainier Beach countered, attacked and scored with one of their only shots on goal. The Bulldogs didn’t score the rest of the game leading to the final score being 1-0.
Despite the difficult loss, the Bulldogs didn’t move up or down in the Metro League standings. Their playoff game will occur next Thursday, time TBD. Garfield will also play a friendly match against Cleveland high school next Tuesday at Garfield high school. The Bulldogs plan to end their season on a high note with wins in their friendly and playoff game. Go Bulldogs!
