Garfield vs Rainier Beach Recap

The Garfield Bulldogs narrowly beat the Rainier Beach Vikings in a nail biter 71-67. This important win puts the Bulldogs record at three wins and one loss.
The Vikings were a tough opponent for the Bulldogs but that makes the win all the more satisfying. The Bulldogs showed what they were made of when they were down 64-63 with only two minutes remaining on the clock. After scoring a two pointer, Garfield showcased their stellar defense with a series of blocks and rebounds that prevented the Vikings from scoring. The Vikings responded back though, with a free throw to tie the game at 65. With one minute left the Bulldogs got a clutch rebound after a missed shot by Koren Johnson and made a layup to put them up 67-65. A steal for Garfield resulted in a fast break which forced Rainier Beach to foul. Two successful free throws put Garfield up 69-65. Garfield’s Marjon Bennett then got a steal on the inbound which he put up for an easy layup. A technical foul was then called on the Garfield bench, but the two free throws weren’t enough as the Vikings ran out of time and the game finished 71-67.
The Bulldogs must be happy with this win as this puts them in a good position to continue their win streak against O’Dea in their next game on May 14th.
