Boys Cross Country Stays Undefeated With Big Win Over O’dea
Hayden Murphy
The Garfield boys cross country team raced against O’Dea on Thursday at Magnuson park, and moved to 4-0 on the season. This win puts them in sole possession of first place in the South division, and keeps their undefeated season alive. Garfield didn’t really know what to expect from O’Dea, since they hadn’t faced strong competition yet. The Bulldog runners went out hard in the first mile, clocking in around 5:15 mile pace in an effort to drop the O’Dea runners from the front group. They slowed down slightly after the first mile but still went fast enough to stay in the lead. This hard pace proved to be too much for the inferior O’Dea team, and Garfield finished with five of the top six runners.
This was a big win for the boys team, and puts them two wins away from an undefeated season. They now look ahead to a race with West Seattle on April 2nd, as well as the virtual state championship meet on the track on April 6th.
