Garfield vs Lincoln Recap
Cole Yagi
It was a battle for the ages… Chanting, stomping, and clapping filling the hall. That’s right, it was the battle of the cheerleaders, the only real battle of this entire game. Starting almost only their bench and JV players, the Garfield girls' basketball annihilated Lincoln with 77 to 14 rout.
The Lady Bulldogs came out with a blistering pace, scoring 34 points while only allowing 5 in the first quarter. Coach must have told them to slow down as they scored 21, 9, and 13 points in the next three quarters. Even with that in mind, they still only allowed an average of just over three points per quarter.
Navaeh Talbert led the squad, scoring 15 points in the game. Another bright part of the game was the Varsity debut of Naima Joseph, who recently came back from injury. She scored 12 points and recovered a team leading 10 rebounds. The team demolished Lincoln the whole game and it somehow felt more unbalanced than the Cleveland game that resulted in an 111-2-point victory. The team played very cleanly and decisively won the game.
