Garfield vs Ingraham Recap
Aaron Orbeck
The Bulldogs lost a close game to the Ingraham Rams 52-49 in the first round of the playoffs. This means that the Bulldogs are out of contention for the Metro League championship.
The game started off even with the Bulldogs and the Rams both scoring 13 points in the first quarter. The teams stayed neck and neck in the second quarter as both teams scored 16 points. However, in the third quarter Ingraham outscored Garfield 15 to 7. The Bulldogs tried to come back but only managed to score 13 to Ingraham's 8 in the fourth quarter.
Forward Sherrell Mccullum Jr and guard Tremaine Guidry led the Bulldogs in scoring with 17 and 16 points respectively. Unfortunately, Garfield stars Koren Johnson and Jaylin Stewart did not have a normal performance. Johnson shot just 3 for 11 and Stewart shot 2 for 10. Perhaps with a better night from either of them the Bulldogs would have had a better chance to win.
While this loss kicks the Bulldogs out of the championship bracket, they still have a game against Roosevelt next in the consolation bracket.
