The Garfield golf team played Franklin High school on the last day of September, looking to extend their win streak to six. They got it with a dominant 116-66 victory. Garfield improves to 6-1-0, while Franklin moves to 4-3-0.
The match was uneven with Franklin bringing just five people to the match, meaning Garfield scored six people against five. Senior Jack Theiss and freshman Jake Rogers led it off with a decent performance. Jack shot a round of 42 for a score of 22, while Jake shot 43 for a score of 21. Freshman James Lynch played a great round, shooting a round of 40 for a score of 23! He scored 3 more points than his season average. Senior Jack Jassy and Sophomore Jackson Schlemmer played in the third group. Jack shot 44, for a score of 19. Jackson shot 47, adding up to a score of 16. In the fourth group, was sophomore Jack Sundberg. He also shot a round of 47 for a score of 16. As a team, Garfield added up to a score of 115. Franklin was led by Will Rayment, shooting a round of 38 for a fantastic score of 25. Jayden Quitlong shot a round of 41 for a score of 22, Tyson Dong shot a round of 52 for a score of 11, Eli Folsom shot a round of 56 for 7 points, and Niko Abian shot a round of 62 for 1 point. Together, Franklin’s score added up to 66. Garfield won 116-66.
