Garfield vs Cleveland Recap
Jordan Kim
Coming off last week's 1-1 draw against Chief Sealth, the Garfield Bulldogs were even more motivated to start a winning streak against Cleveland. Cleveland last week beat Rainier Beach 2-0 so based off the standings, the Bulldogs came into the game as an underdog. It was the Bulldogs first home game at memorial stadium and second out of their seven game regular season. With only a very short season, winning every game is a priority for placing well in the metro league.
In the first half of Thursday's game, the Bulldogs got out to a 4-0 lead with goals from seniors Jonah Small and Payton Fukeda as well as two goals from junior Dylan “Choppa” Paine. The scoring continued in the second half with goals from senior Diego Hernandez and another from Dylan. Dylan got his hat-trick and has scored four goals in the last two games. The Bulldogs defense got a clean sheet with the final score being 6-0.
The Garfield Bulldogs boys soccer team takes on undefeated West Seattle on May 13 at 4:00pm at Walt Hundley Field. The Bulldogs plan to continue their win streak and make it to the top of the Metro league standings. Go Bulldogs!
