Garfield vs Chief Sealth Recap

In the third match of the year, the Garfield golf team played against Chief Sealth High School at West Seattle Golf Course. Garfield won, dominating 114-81. Garfield improves to 2-1-0.
Senior Zander Sheath and Sophomore Bryce Axtell led it off with a great start, each getting a par on the first hole. Zander finished with a score of 44 for 20 points. Bryce was right behind him with a score of 47, equal to 17 points. The first group combined for 37 points. Sophomores Jake Rogers and James Lynch went next. Jake had a great round, shooting a 41 for 23 points. James shot a 49 for 15 points. The second group combined for 38 points. Sophomore Cole Yagi played in the third group. Cole played quite well; he shot a 43 for a score of 21. The third group scored 21 points. Junior Jackson Schlemmer played in the fourth group. He shot 46 for 18 points. Garfield’s score added up to 114 points: a score that beats most metro league teams, including Chief Sealth, easily.
Since the start of the year, the Garfield golf team doesn’t feel like they’ve lived up to their potential. After this match, they hope to turn this around and continue their momentum in a match against Ingraham on Friday, September 23rd, at Jefferson Park golf course.
