Cross Country State Recap
Zack Bukovec
Last Saturday, November 6th, three fierce bulldogs and their coaches took on the state championships for Cross Country at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. This course was one that consisted of many hills, many turns and terrain that runners were not used to. Definitely a challenge for our Bulldogs, who still powered through.
There were 214 people in the Boys Race, and Garfield had two runners competing. This being Sophomore Kamil Zeribi who finished in 17:02 placing 51st, and Senior Samuel Cetron who finished in 17:19 in 77th place.
Out of the 192 people in the Girls Race, we only had one Garfield competitor, Senior Ellie Wakefield. Ellie was able to finish with a time of 20:38 and finish 86th.
While the Bulldogs didn’t qualify as a team, these three qualified individually for state and represented Garfield with pride and passion.
With this meet, that puts the Garfield Cross Country season to an end. The team has been constantly training since the start of summer, putting in the work and effort in order to grow as runners. We saw every runner putting in maximum effort and achieving great results. Let's hope for more success in the upcoming Track and Field season in spring!
