Cross Country Meet Three Recap
Zack Bukovec
On Wednesday, the Cross Country Team faced off against Nathan Hale, Roosevelt, Franklin, and Ballard at Magnuson Park.
Of the four groups of runners, three got third place. These being the boys Varsity, girls Varsity, and boys JV team. The girls JV team placed second, just barely beating out Ballard for the position!
In terms of times for the Bulldogs, let’s congratulate Senior Samuel Cetron for running a time of 16:04.6 and placing second place in the varsity race. Along with that, he has secured the spot for the #12 fastest ever 5000 meters run in Garfield history!
Onto the girl's race, senior Ellie Wakefield led the pack finishing 5th place with a time of 20:10.9. Also making it onto the bulldog bests for the #18 fastest girls time in Garfield history. And not finishing too far behind her, Freshman Jayda Lewis took 6th place with a time of 20:36.46. Jayda is now ranked #47 in the state for freshman girls, and #8 in the metro league.
Next Thursday at Magnuson Park is the Metro League Championships. With a top finish, our Bulldogs could qualify for the district meet, and if they place after that they will compete in the state championship in Pasco. Let's wish the Cross Country Team luck as they battle hard throughout the next week!
