Cross Country John Payne/Curtis Invitational Recap

The Garfield Bulldogs cross country team ran their Top 14 runners this week at the John Payne/Curtis invite at Chambers Creek Meadows Golf Course down in Tacoma against over 30 different schools.
The JV Top 7 boys placed 10th while the JV Top 7 girls placed 12th in the pack. In the girl's race, Junior Mia Andreeva let the way placing 44th out of 127. And in the boy's race, Junior Kincaid Laverty and Sophomore Henry Porter placed 30th and 32th out of 192.
And in the highly competitive varsity race competing with some of the top runners in the state, both the Boys and Girls Varsity Team placed 9th place team-wise. With the standing out runners being Senior Captains Ellie Wakefield and Samuel Cetron placing in the top half in their race leading the way and leaving a trail of dust behind for competitors to cough on.
Overall, the Bulldogs had a strong performance at their first invitational meet of the year. Keep an eye out for next week's NIKE Hole in the Wall invitational, which is one of the most hyped races of the year for the fierce bulldogs!
