Boys Golf Districts Recap
Cole Yagi
The Garfield golf team played in the High School SeaKing district tournament on Monday, October 25th at Riverbend Golf Course. The unideal conditions made it a rough outing for all of the players, including our boys in purple. Winds blew around 20 mph and rain over the prior days made the course miserably wet. Nevertheless, the tournament went on and each Garfield player played their hearts out.
Like the Metro tournament, five athletes are sent from every team and four are scored. Senior Jack Theiss once again led the team with a fabulous round of 81 or 9 over par. Freshman Jake Rogers also played incredibly well, shooting 84 or 12 over par. He shot one of the best rounds of the tournament by a freshman. Freshman Cole Yagi played rather nicely, shooting 92 or 20 over. Senior Jack Jassy also played well. He shot 97 or 25 over par. Freshman James Lynch had a rough time with the conditions and his score was not used in the final total. Garfield added up to 354 strokes, unfortunately not enough to clinch state. The team played well considering the conditions, and looks to make a run at state next year.
