Boys Basketball Season Preview
Aaron Orbeck
On November 30th the Garfield boys basketball team will kick off their season with a home game against Bishop Blanchet. They’ll hope to return to the form of two years ago when the Bulldogs won the state championship. They finished last season with a record of 8-4 after quickly being knocked out of the Metro League Tournament.
Garfield return top scorer and recent UW commit Koren Johnson, but fresh talent brings even more talent in the form of tall forwards Kam Robinson and Kenzel Massey. The latter averaged 17 points a game in 2019-2020 with Lakes High School and former is also expected to make a significant impact as a starter. Other stars from last year like forwards Jaylin Stewart and Sherrell McCullum Jr. will be returning. They averaged 14 and 13 points per game, respectively, last season.
This season opener against a Bishop Blanchet team that went only 4-6 last season, offers the Bulldogs a chance to get started on the right foot in front of their home crowd.
