Baseball Week Three Recap
|
|
After a rough first two weeks to the season, the Garfield Bulldogs had a great third week winning all three of their games.
Their first opponent was Cleveland HS. That 13-1 victory was an easy one. Henry Smidt started the game and Tommy Lessig closed it out. On the offensive side, the Bulldogs had no trouble securing hits and runs against Cleveland’s subpar pitching.
Garfield’s game against Rainier Beach proved to be even less challenging than the previous. In the first inning the Bulldogs scored 22 runs, effectively ending the game. Rainier Beach only managed to score 3 runs which were off Griffin Hintze, a position player.
The final game of the week for the Bulldogs was against Chief Sealth HS. Chief Sealth proved to be a much more worthy opponent for Garfield. Both teams pitched well, but the Bulldogs were able to eke out a 2-0 victory. Aaron Herst threw 7 shutout innings and finished with 13 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs have a more challenging schedule next week with games against Bellevue, Bishop Blanchet, Franklin, and Ballard as well as another game against Ballard at T-Mobile Park.
