After 349 days, Garfield sports are back.
Beginning the week of March 1st, eight Garfield sports will start their seasons as a part of the Metro League’s first of two seasons. After numerous variations to the schedule, the Metro League decided on a schedule that runs the first set of sports from March 1st until April 19th.
The Garfield sports that are a part of season one are as follows:
Football: Five games from March 5th - April 1st
Volleyball: Seven games from March 3rd - April 12th
Boys/Girls Cross Country: Five meets from March 4th - April 8th
Girls Soccer: Seven games from March 4th - April 15th
Gymnastics: Six meets from March 12th - April 17th
Boys Golf: Six matches from March 1st - April 6th
Girls Golf: Six matches from March 1st - March 30th
Bowling: Twelve games from March 2nd - April 13th
Girls Swim: Schedule coming soon

Although this season there will be no state-wide competitions, teams will still be able to compete for Metro League titles. These tournaments will take place in mid-April, and will lead right up to the start of season two, which starts on April 19th.
The second season will consist of the remaining sports. This season will span from the end of season one - on April 19th - until June 12th with the Metro tournament wrapping up just before the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Although there is still a chance the schedules could be altered, or even canceled, at the moment it appears that high schools have the green-light to finally resume athletics.
